MMA and Anti-Bullying

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) can sometimes be seen as a violent sport, but is it really? In many ways, it is a sport that instills confidence in an individual along with techniques and skills for self-defence. For many students growing up, especially during high school, bullying can be a big issue resulting in low self-esteem or low confidence. Through MMA, victims of bullying can be confident in themselves and can defend themselves if the problem escalates. It teaches an individual not how to hurt others, but develop a stronger mind, body and strength. Thus, being able to not only protect one self when needed, but have the confidence to move on and achieve their goals. Of course, a victim of bullying should also let an adult know about the issue as soon as possible. Through MMA, one can become confident in themselves and acquire skills and techniques that may help them in the future. MMA teaches an individual more than it seems whereby making one a stronger person.
